New temporary booking procedures at the interconnection points
Energinet.dk has implemented a change of the allocation mechanism to improve the way capacity is allocated on the Danish interconnection points – towards Germany at Ellund and Sweden at Dragør.

By Dorte G. Kristiansen

The change implies temporary removal of the option to buy yearly products at Ellund and Dragør.

The change is made to prepare for the implementation of the principal goal in the European and Danish market development, which is to ensure the availability of bundled capacity products and common auctions at the interconnection points.

The temporary change entered into force on 29 June 2011
All shippers on the Danish gas market was informed directly of the change which was done by removing the option to buy yearly products at Ellund and Dragør and introducing auctions.

Yearly products are still available at Nybro and the Exit Zone i.e. deliveries to Danish end consumers. Energinet.dk must receive all other monthly capacity orders 4 business days before the commencement of a capacity period.

The change will persist until bundling on the interconnection points becomes possible at international level. Therefore, Energinet.dk continues the work with the neighbouring TSOs and work for a broader regional solution via ENTSO-G.

Auction from 1 September 2011 - contracts starting 1 October 2011
Contracts starting on 1 October 2011 will be concluded on the basis of an auction for monthly products. More details in relation to the auction mechanism and the deadlines will be available in August 2011.

Energinet.dk will implement an ‘Open Subscription Period’ and an auction will be held in case of excess demand for the upcoming monthly capacity. Otherwise, direct allocation will apply on received orders.
