Environmantally sound head office
Energinet.dk's head office in Fredericia has been designed and constructed to impact the environment as little as possible while simultaneously providing the best possible indoor climate and creating a good framework for cooperation.

Energy-wise building with solar cells and environmentally friendly materials

In January 2008, we inaugurated our new head office in Erritsø near the motor-way - right at the centre of Denmark.

The house, where around 400 employees report to work each day, lives up to new, strict energy requirements. As such, the building's energy consumption is 20-30% lower than that of traditional buildings.

The energy-friendly construction and design has influenced, for instance, the choice of lamps and ventilation and cooling systems, which are normally very energy-intensive. The lamps all have energy-saving bulbs, and all rooms are fitted with motion sensors that automatically turn the light on and off.

The building is also fitted with 6 kW solar cells supplementing the power supply. We expect to reduce our CO2 emissions by 3 tonnes a year solely by using solar-cell generated electricity.

The construction and design of the house in combination with carefully selected materials help to make Energinet.dk's head office an absolutely unique place of work where knowledge-sharing and inter-disciplinary cooperation are thriving in the open-plan offices and the large, airy atrium at the centre of the building.
