Limit on structural countertrade on the DE-DK1 border

Countertrade must be conducted in a way that reduces market impact, and, in order to achieve this, Energinet has required that TenneT implement a limit on structural countertrade requested on the DE-DK1 border.
Structural countertrade (requests for countertrade while the system is in “normal state”, SOGL art. 18) on the DE-DK1 border will be limited to the scheduled exchange resulting from the Single Day-Ahead Coupling.
This means that countertrade can reduce scheduled exchange on the border to zero, but countertrade will not reverse the direction of the schedule. As a result of intraday capacity allocations via XBID, however, the direction of scheduled exchange could still change if the price direction changes.
The countertrade limitation only applies when the transmission system has the classification “normal state” as defined in SOGL 18(1).
After consultation with TenneT TSO GmbH, Energinet is going to apply the limit as of 9 September 2022 and monitor that it is respected.
Update 30 September 2022:
Due to a misinterpretation on TenneT's side, the limit on structural countertrade on the DE-DK1 border was exceeded on 26 September.
TenneT confirms that this has been fixed, and that they are fully committed to respect the limit.
Update 13 October 2022
The countertrade limit was further exceeded on 6 October 2022 as Tennet was in alert state, and again on 8 October 2022 due to a bug in TenneT's CT calculation tool. TenneT reconfirms that they are committed to respecting the limit.
Update 24 October 2022
The countertrade limit was exceeded on 20 October 2022 as Tennet was in alert state, and again in one single hour on 22 October 2022 due to implementation challenges with TenneT's CT calculation tool. TenneT confirms that they are committed to respecting the limit.
Update 2 December 2022
The countertrade limit was exceeded twice on 3 November 2022 with just 10MWh and again on 6 November 2022 with 240 MWh due to manual implementation challenges with TenneT's CT calculation tool. TenneT confirms that they are committed to respecting the limit.
Update 23 January 2023
The countertrade limit was exceeded on 17 January 2023 due to an error in the operational process which has been taken care of immediately. TenneT apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Update 3 March 2023
The countertrade limit was exceeded for several hours on 19 February 2023 in order for TenneT to avoid alert state as a result of a sudden trip of the Cobra Cable in an already tense grid situation.
Update 13 March 2023
The countertrade limit was exceeded on 4 March 2023 as Tennet was in alert state.
Update 4 April 2023
The countertrade limit was exceeded on 16 and 26 March 2023 due to an error in TenneT's CT calculation tool. TenneT reconfirms that they are committed to respecting the limit.

The countertrade limit was exceeded on 21 April 2023 as Tennet was in alert state.
