Technical Requirements for Fast Frequency Reserve have been published

The Nordic transmission system operators are preparing to implement Fast Frequency Reserve (FFR) to handle low inertia situations. Operating conditions with low inertia have become more frequent in the Nordic power system, and at times, inertia is so low that the current reserve products alone are not sufficiently fast. The goal is to have the new reserve in operation by the summer of 2020.

Energinet has published the joint Nordic report "Technical Requirements for Fast Frequency Reserve Provision in the Nordic Synchronous Area". It describes the technical requirements for FFR as well as requirements for compliance verification and information exchange. Click here to read the report.
